Continuing Education Hub Connects BC Skilled Tradespeople with Post-Secondary Courses

TradeUpBC has recently launched its refreshed website, the centerpiece of a continuing education hub that connects skilled tradespeople in British Columbia with post-secondary short- offerings that will accelerate their skills, careers, and prepare them for the future needs of their trades.

Microcredentials are short, for-credit programs or courses that provide new skills and knowledge essential to industries now and into the future. To this end, TradeUpBC brings together BC post-secondary institutions to develop and showcase these microcredentials and short-term training programs for certified and/or experienced skilled tradespeople in the province.

Topics include Changes in Technology, Climate Change Impacts, Leadership Skills Development, Mentorship Training, Inclusive Workplaces, Educator Training, and Advanced Safety Skills. These programs are designed to complement but do not replace apprenticeship training.

TradeUpBC is just one element of the provincial government’s StrongerBC: Future Ready Action Plan, a $480 million commitment to break down barriers to post-secondary education so more people can get training for in-demand careers and employers can access the talent they need.

Ultimately, these offerings will assist experienced tradespeople and employers with advancing their knowledge, technical skill set, and careers, strengthening their businesses, creating welcoming worksites, and ensuring they are future ready.

Many courses begin as early as January 2024. Learn more about available programs and courses.
